The aim of the activity was to study the traditional Flavors of India and the countries of the partner schools with respect to their culture. Students gained knowledge of the rich and diverse Traditional dishes of India and partner countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka  and Thailand.

Power Point Presentation  :

An introductory session using Power point presentation was conducted for the students of classes VI to VIII.The students were briefed about how cuisines and flavors of various states of India differ from each other with respect to ingredients, cooking style and presentation. They were also shown the recipes of partner  countries of India such as Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Bangladesh. 

 

 Various other activities like Map plotting, Scrapbook making, Cookery show, Field trip and Recipe exchange were also organized for the students.

 

Map plotting-

Map Plotting activity was conducted under ISA project –‘Traditional Flavours of India and Around the Globe’. Students were motivated to explore and collect information about the different Traditional dishes prepared in different states of India and same were marked on the map of India.

Scrapbook

 Scrap books were made by the students depicting the importance of some Traditional Dishes made on different occasions in India and and partner countries Nepal, Bangladesh , Bhutan and  Thailand .

 Cookery Show

Under  project- ‘Traditional flavours of India and Around the Globe’,  cookery show was organized for classes VI-VIII . The students compared and contrasted the flavors of India and of the countries selected as partner schools. Students cooked and displayed recipes of Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Bangladesh. They came to know about different cuisines of Indian states and as well as cuisines of neighbouring countries. it was a great learning experience for them..

Field visit

On 18th January, 2020(Saturday) the enthusiastic group of students were accompanied by conscientious teachers to spend their day at Chokhi Dhani. It is a place that gives an authentic Rajasthani experience to the students combining rich folk entertainment, Rajasthani cuisine and its village life ambience. The students were given a warm welcome servingand were served with delicious breakfast. This was then followed by a plethora of entertaining activities like magic-show, puppet show, DJ dance, Bullock cart and horse rides, Rajasthani folk music and dance. They also enjoyed extravagant vegetarian Rajasthani cuisine along with the rural, rustic and village like ambience, captivating beautiful memories in their minds. Every student and teacher returned to school invigorated, thrilled and looking forward to more such eventful picnics.

 Recipe Exchange-

To know each other better, the activity 'Recipe Exchange'was conducted under ISA project- 'Traditional flavours of India and around the Globe'.Through this activity the students of SRCS exchanged the recipe and process of making Modak and the Partner school from Nepal shared the process and recipe of preparing "Gendi-one of the traditional dish of Nepal. It was really a great learning session for the students of both the countries.

 

Talk Show-

Under  Project-'Traditional Flavours of India and Around the Globe ' a talk show on 'Importance of Balanced Diet' was conducted by renowned Dr. Apoorv Shrivastav , an experienced Bariatric Surgeon. He briefed the students about importance of balanced diet and healthy eating habits. He also talked about personal hygiene and the negative effects of eating Junk food.
